OVERVIEW

Implant dentistry is considered a reliable solution for replacing missing teeth, but the long-term success of implants is increasingly questioned due to the rise in early implant failures and complications.

This presentation by Dr. Rodrigo Neiva will discuss the advantages, disadvantages, and realistic short- and long-term expectations of current options for tooth replacement with dental implants.

It will also cover how periodontal treatment may delay or even prevent the need for tooth replacement.

Dr. Rodrigo Neiva, DDS, MS

Dr. Rodrigo Neiva is a renowned expert in periodontics and implant dentistry. He has authored and co-authored over 100 scientific papers and book chapters in his field. Dr. Neiva earned a Certificate and a Master’s Degree in Periodontics from the University of Michigan in 2003. His academic career includes appointments as Clinical Assistant Professor and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Michigan and the University of Florida.

In 2017, Dr. Neiva was awarded full Clinical Professorship and served as Chairman of Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine until 2024. He is a Fellow in the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the American College of Dentists, as well as a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and the International Congress of Oral Implantology.

Dr. Neiva is a former Director of the American Board of Periodontology and currently serves as a Board Examiner and Adjunct Clinical Professor at Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry.
